340- Has it really been a year??

Yesterday marked one year since graduation. This year has FLOWN by. People always says it does....and I never believe them. And btw, I thought someone forgot to tell me about life after high school.......good thing that was pretty simple to figure out. But for real.....why didnt someone prepare me for life after college. Like how jobs were much more scarce then we first thought, or that you have to balance out how you pay bills so you dont run out of money for rent. Or how your once structured life of homework and deadlines and test, after test, after test turns into........having absolutely nothing to do...at all. Now this ma not be the case for those of you with children. But for this newly married nurse it was very boring!!!
I also can see that I have grown so much. I still consider myself a new nurse. I still ask questions....all the freaking time. I still have to look at the drugs and double, triple check.....and check the order again just to make sure. I still cringe when my patients ask "So how long have you been doing this??" HAHA!!! I laugh a little inside every time because I have to tell them 9 months..... and hope that they dont judge me for it. But I have heard from a family member before "really cause you seem like you been doing it for years!" or when they told the Dr. "We didnt even need a Dr, we had our nurse!!"=) They did, however, tell us that this first year would be the hardest and most stressful. When I first started I would come home and say "crap I forgot to chart a temp, or position", or whatever. I have brought home the strangest things in my pockets included but limited to: a pacifier, tourniquet, syringes, and baby hats. Its been a crazy year but I have been blessed with a job I have no doubt I was made for. Who could ask for more then that??

This year my wonderful husband, after 7 years in college finally graduated!! YAY!! I am so proud of him for sticking it through and finishing!! He is going to be such a good teacher! Now if we can just find him a job!!
